Cystic Fibrosis

People with Cystic Fibrosis often experience excessive fatigue when performing everyday activities. Decreased lung function is a common symptom in this population but does not fully explain the cause of excessive fatigue.

This line of research is investigating if blood vessels and muscle impairments play a role in the development of fatigue.

E-Cigarettes

E-cigarette use has rapidly increased over the last decade, creating a push for further research into the effects that vaping can have on one's health. With a lack of proper regulation for these devices, continuous research into how these products affect cardiopulmonary health is necessary.

This line of research investigates the effects of e-cigarette use on cardiopulmonary health.

Stress

According to the CDC, adversity during childhood “can have a tremendous impact on future violence victimization, perpetration, and lifelong health and opportunity”. Current knowledge supports that emotional as well as physical stress during childhood are major contributors to cardiovascular diseases. However, the effects that these stressors exert on the cardiovascular system are still up for debate.

This line of research focuses on evaluating the relationship between different types of early-life stressors and cardiovascular health.
